Classroom Observation Policy

Policy Information
Britt Elementary School welcomes parental involvement and transparency in our educational community! To maintain a safe, focused learning environment with minimal disruption to daily instructional time, we have established clear guidelines for classroom visits and volunteer opportunities.
Why This Policy Matters
Establishing these boundaries ensures equal parts safety and consistency. Scheduled, supervised observations protect classroom routine, safeguard student privacy, and minimize distractions so our teachers can focus entirely on delivering high-quality instruction.
Classroom Observation Policy Guidelines
Parents and guardians are permitted to observe their child’s classroom under the following required conditions:
-
Observation Only: Visits are strictly designated for observing classroom instruction and learning dynamics, not for volunteering or interacting with students during class time.
-
Prior Approval Required: All visits must be requested and approved by an Assistant Principal at least 48 hours prior to arrival. Please call the school to make this request.
-
Duration: Visits are limited to a maximum of 20 minutes to preserve the flow of daily instruction.
-
Supervision: An Assistant Principal will accompany and remain present with the parent for the entire duration of the visit.
School Volunteer Opportunities
We love our school volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity at Britt Elementary—whether for classroom events, field trips, or school-wide activities—you must complete the official background and clearance process.
